April 2019 Meeting

April 2019 Meeting

April 14- "Stormy Sisterhood: Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey vs. Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre" by Amanda Beverly and Mary Landrum

Much has been made of Charlotte Bronte's disdain for Jane Austen. Years later it is a topic of much debate. Who is the better writer? Austen's humor, looks at a small town life, and quotable characters have stood the test of time. Yet the same can be said for Bronte's dark interiors and passionate lovers. Amanda and Mary hope to answer that question with their analysis of Northanger Abbey and Jane Eyre.

Cheer on your favorite author with their team color! To show your support for Jane Austen, the presenters have requested that you wear an item that is Royal Blue. To show your support for Charlotte Bronte, the presenters have requested that you wear an item that is Black or Gray.

The meeting will start at 2 p.m. and will be held at Locust Grove (561 Blankenbaker Lane, Louisville, KY) in the Audubon Room. Afternoon Tea and treats will be served after the presentation.
