Featured Speakers- Cristina Barreto and Martin Lancaster
Cristina Barreto and Martin Lancaster are a husband and wife team that love to share their passion for Napoleonic history and fashion not only with each other, but with everyone they meet! Cristina’s love for fashion began in her native Brazil where she started her career in the fashion industry. From there she moved on to accessory design and heading departments for high-end clothing brands in Italy. From a very early age, Martin has loved all things related to Napoleonic history. Together, Cristina and Martin own and maintain an extensive private collection of period dress, prints, books, and various related objects related to this time period. Not only have they loaned this collection out to museums for exhibition, but they have also consulted on numerous film and television projects and advised museums and collectors with their own collections. They have co-authored a book, Napoleon and the Empire of Fashion: 1795-1815, which will be available soon after some time out of print.
We are so fortunate to have Cristina and Martin present at our inaugural Winter Ball on December 7th. At Noon, Cristina will answer the important who, where, when, hows and whys of appropriate dress and accessorizing for the ladies with “The Good Guide to Creating the Perfect Wardrobe." A light luncheon will be served after Cristina's presentation. Then, at 2:00 p.m., Martin will share his love of history in “Touching the Tiger – How to Find History through Re-enactment.”
