Gods of War
"Gods of War"
Special presentation by Napoleon and Admiral Lord Nelson
Napoleon Bonaparte was the emperor of the French from 1804 to 1815. He was a Colossus! A great changer of Europe by spreading the ideas of the French Revolution, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. Napoleon is also known as one of the greatest generals in the history of warfare. His victories at Rivoli, Marengo, Austerlitz and Friedland are still studied at the great military academies of the world.
Admiral Horatio Nelson is remembered as England's greatest naval hero, and one of the greatest Admirals in the history of Naval Warfare. Victories such as Cape Saint Vincent, the Nile and his most famous Trafalgar, will not only be remembered as brilliant Naval victories but we're also instrumental in the turning of the tide in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. In many ways these two"gods of War," were very much like an elephant and a whale, not being able to engage one another directly but indirectly with their abilities on land and on sea and with their policies.
This evening you will get the rare opportunity to meet both Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, and Admiral Horatio Nelson in this "what if" meeting of history.
Meet Napoleon and Nelson Friday Night, July 14th, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. under the Big Tent at the Jane Austen Festival.
