September 2017 Meeting

Sept. 17- Death and Mourning Rituals During the Georgian and Regency Eras- Johnna Waldon

Held at Locust Grove, 561 Blankenbaker Ln, Louisville, KY 40207
2:00pm - 4:00pm

2017 marks the 200th Anniversary of the passing of our dear Jane Austen. Today we mark the occasion with reflections on what Jane’s work means to each of us, but during her time, there would be a series of rituals that her family would be expected to preform to indicate their loss. Johnna Waldon, President of the Kentucky Genealogical Society, will walk us through the necessary customs needed to honor someone’s passing during the Georgian and Regency Eras.
