Welcome to the JASNA-Greater Louisville Region!

Who are we? We are fans of Jane Austen either through her books or many movie adaptations.  We formed in July of 2007 and haven’t looked back!  We now have approximately 140 members.  We meet monthly and have wonderful programs (click the button below to see our Calendar of Events) and serve afternoon tea at the conclusion of each meeting.

Give us a try!  Anyone interested in Jane Austen, her books, the movies, Regency life are welcome and encouraged to join.  To become a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America and the Greater Louisville Region, you must join the national organization.

There have been questions and confusion about why JASNA-Greater Louisville Region is no longer associated with the Jane Austen Festival.

In 2020, after 13 years of planning and operating the event, the Greater Louisville Region (GLR) informed Historic Locust Grove that we could no longer organize the Festival due to volunteer burnout. The amount of work required, year after year, had become a burden to our members.

We were pleased that Historic Locust Grove was able to take over the Festival in 2021, but we also understand and applaud its decision to cancel the Festival in order to prioritize its efforts on presenting the history of enslaved people at Locust Grove in its tours and programs.

GLR took a pause to refocus and ensure all future practices and programs promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. GLR has resumed meeting, mid-year 2022.
