Field Trip: Ashland the Henry Clay Estate in Lexington

Special Event at Ashland the Henry Clay Estate in Lexington

Sunday, August 10, 2025

Take a step back into Kentucky’s history during the Regency era and come along for a tour of Ashland, the Henry Clay estate originally built circa 1811 on a 600-acre farm. Henry Clay was known for promoting economic growth through a national infrastructure and stable financial system as part of his “American System”. Through Clay’s advocacy for the Second Bank of the United States he sought to stabilize the US currency and provided a reliable financial system for trade and commerce.

We hope that you will come to see the estate and its gardens. Prior to the tour you are welcome to have lunch in a picnic area. More information on a box lunch option will be shared soon.

JASNA-GL members must pre-register for this event to get the discounted ticket price and a space in the guided tour by Jill Heink starting at 2:45 pm. Tickets may also be purchased on site at the regular fee. A second tour will be available by museum staff at 3:45pm.

More information on registration to follow soon.
